Take one look at country crooner Josh Turner and you might think you know what he sounds like. You’d be wrong. His rich, baritone voice is reminiscent of the traditional country legends he idolizes. Combine that with a distinctive style all his own and you wind up with a talented country artist committed to moving the genre forward while respecting its noble past.
His 2003 Platinum-selling debut album Long Black Train established Turner as a formidable hit-maker. Between that and his most recent album Punching Bag, he’s sold 12 million units, been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, and earned multiple Grammy, Country Music Award and American Country Music nominations. His hits include “Your Man,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” “Firecracker,” and “Time is Love,” the most-played country song of 2012.
In addition to his musical accomplishments, he’s written a book about his life, and has created a scholarship fund to enable young people to pursue careers in music education.
